She was born on May 28, 1932, in Evansville. She is survived by her son, Keith Baker, also of Evansville. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Baker.
A lifelong lover of books and dogs, Joan was known for her gentle spirit and quiet strength. She was loved by all who knew her. A quote from one of her favorite novels captures her character best:
“Cheerful in all weathers. Never shirked a task. Splendid behavior.”
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Joan’s honor to your local humane society—something that would have brought her great joy.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Envive Health Care , West Unit, on Boeke Road in Evansville and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care in her final years.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral service.
