

He was a journeyman plumber with Plumbers Local 136. John loved the outdoors, especially deer hunting, and had a passion for classic cars. He was also a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Amber (Jacoby) Garrison, children, Douglas Garrison (Brooke) of Boonville and Amy Burns (Detroit) of Chandler; siblings, James H. Garrison, Jr. (Lisa), Jamie Smith (Randy) and Jason Garrison (Chris); grandchildren, Wesley, Natalie, Terrance, Carter, Isaiah, Lincoln and Luke; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Garrison, Sr. and his grandparents; and close friend and spiritual advisor, Father Joe Ziliak.
The family would like to give special thanks to Tri-State MS Association and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care of John.
A Funeral Service will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Father Dusty Burns. Family and friends may visit Friday from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
