Lawrence F. (Larry) Spicher of Boonville Indiana passed away peacefully at his home after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. He was born on August 1, 1965 to the late Lawrence E. and Lucinda Lee (Baker) Spicher and was second of six children.
After graduating high school he followed in his Father's footsteps and joined the navy. He spent his first two years in Nuclear School learning to operate a nuclear reactor. He then used this skill on the USS Baltimore and the USS Seawolf nuclear submarines. He helped commission the USS Seawolf and was a proud "Plank Owner". One of his favorite assignments while serving was teaching others the craft in Nuclear Sub Prototype school. After 12 years he was honorably discharged while holding the position of "Nuclear Propulsion Plant Supervisor".
Upon discharge from the Navy Larry began his civilian career at Alcoa for 17 years before moving to Century Aluminum. While working in Industrial maintenance he held many positions, from electrician to supervisor, buyer and planner among others.
He was a man of high integrity and was well respected by all who knew him. He received many accolades for his work ethic and skills for getting any job he encountered done well.
He was quite the handyman around the house as well. When problems arose, he would evaluate it and figure out how to fix it. There were very few jobs he couldn't resolve. His passion was taking care of his family and being a loving husband and father in addition to being a loyal friend and exemplary employee.
Larry was an active member of Living Word Christian Church. He was also a member of American Legion Post #200 in Boonville and was recently voted in as a lifetime member of VFW Post 3418 as an auxiliary member.
His memories will be cherished and his presence will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bonnie (Coleman) Spicher; son Lawrence J Spicher at home; daughters Amber Jackson of South Carolina and Chelsea Rivera of Florida; brother Brian (Daniella) Spicher of Florida; sisters Gina Wison (James) of Florida, Sherrie Lynch of Virginia, and Lisa Spicher of Australia and many grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister Tracy Burnette and his niece Kayla Burnette both of Virginia.
A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and for the many prayers of family and friends
