Les was a Production Planning Manager working at Millenium Steel for 19 years, frequenting both locations in Princeton, IN and San Antonio, TX. He walked the plant floor daily and considered his co-workers to be part of his family.
Les was a US Navy veteran stationed in San Diego, CA.
Les moved from Iowa to his Newburgh home in Lakeland Court in 1992. He was the anchor for a close-knit neighborhood community including Jamie and Amber Dumanski and sons, Mason and Connor, Derick & Rebecca Benigni and daughter, Ivy, and others.
He enjoyed riding his scooter to Rivertown for ice cream in the evenings, working on house and yard projects with Jamie, and watching Formula 1 and movies in the “green” outdoor theatre while grilling food for everyone.
Les is survived by his daughter, Tiffany A. (Halweg) Gruner; granddaughter, Lillian D. Gruner; brother, Lee Halweg and wife, June of Oconomowoc, WI; nephew, Loren Halweg; ex-wife, Kay Sandra (Monroe) Halweg, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage; and step-daughter, Ronda K. (Fielhauer) McCallister and her children, Jordan T. Potts, Destiny R. Bradshaw, and Aidan M. Bradshaw.
