Lois Arlene Scheiber

Lois was born in Spencer County, Indiana, to the late Oran Harris and Juanita Lee (Hagan) Harris Murphy. She graduated from Tell City High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Scheiber, that same November. Early in her life, Lois worked at General Electric and later for a short time at Warrick National Bank.

In 2008, she moved to Illinois to be closer to her daughter and family—who were always at the center of her life.

Lois was the heart of her family and dedicated herself to caring for others. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, remembered for her sweet nature, quiet strength, and generous heart. She loved reading inspirational books and found great joy in baking and cooking for her loved ones. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with family, and she lived her life with them as her constant focus.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Coomer, and son-in-law, Bud Coomer; grandchildren, Jaime L. Coomer-Dossett and her husband Patrick Dossett, and Jayson Coomer; great-grandchildren, Lillyan Coomer-Kilgore and Cole Coomer; and three cherished great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Robert Scheiber.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, Indiana. The service will be officiated by her son-in-law, Evangelist Bud Coomer. Lois will be laid to rest beside her beloved Robert.
