

Mary Lou Evans Bain, 83, of Evansville, IN, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born October 26, 1932, in Petersburg, IN to the late Chester J. and Bertha I. Evans.
She graduated from Petersburg High School, attended Lockyear Business College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree and a Masters Degree from the University of Evansville. Mary Lou was a teacher for the EVSC for 27 years teaching at Stanley Hall, Dexter, Thompkins, and retiring from Harper Elementary School in 1989. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Evansville Retired Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Three Arts Club, and past member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and The Kennel Club. She and her husband spent their summer and weekends at Kentucky Lake on their houseboat, Bob-a-Lou, and after retiring, they enjoyed spending their winters in Naples, FL at their condo.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Berry Fisackerly.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert D. Bain; niece, Debra Ann Berry Denson (Jeff) of Mobile, AL; nephew, Robert Lee Berry, Jr. (Cherie) and great-nephew, Mark Berry of Memphis, TN; stepson, Terry Bain; and Vickie Cooper, her loyal and dependable caregiver. She loved spending time with her beloved pets, Nubbins, KeKee and Jasper.
Private family services were held at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evansville Humane Society or Warrick Humane Society.
