Pastor Michael L. Claypool

He was raised by his Godly parents and grew up in church. He graduated in 1990 from Lincoln Christian College. From there he went to Scottsburg, IN where God taught him much about ministry. In 1992, God moved him to Newburgh, IN to First Christian Church where he remained for 22 years, with God blessing his family and his church family. In 2015, God called him to new work. From that ministry, Living Word Christian Church was formed. He semi-retired in 2022 due to health issues and retired in 2023. He faced several cancer battles throughout his life. God saw Mike had fought and was ready to take him home. Because of the forgiveness of Jesus, he will reside in the place prepared for him. If you want the same peace in passing, he wants you to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior now and for all eternity.

Mike loved his family, especially his wife, Cindy whom he married August 2, 1975. He is survived by Cindy; son, C.J. (Alisha); daughter, Jessica (Farrin); sister, Connie Osgood (Russ) of Danville, IL and their daughters and granddaughters.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Living Word Christian Church, 3888 State Road 261, officiated by Fritz Kaufman. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
