Dr. Mike Kijin Woo

Mike was born on May 29, 1969, in Seoul, South Korea. He spent his early years in Korea before moving to the United States in 2002, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, friendship, and the many passions that brought him joy.

Mike had an enduring curiosity and drive that carried through every chapter of his life. He first studied mechanical engineering, a natural path for someone with such a lifelong love of cars. Years later, he pursued a new calling in dentistry and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

For nearly two decades, Mike practiced dentistry with Aspen Dental, where he became known not only for his skill and dedication, but also for the relationships he built with patients, colleagues, and the many people he mentored and worked alongside. He went on to own several dental practices and took great pride in the teams and communities he helped build.

Since 2017, Mike was actively involved with 10/10ths Motorsports and the Central Indiana Region Porsche Club of America, where he served as a high-performance driving instructor. He especially treasured sharing that passion with his son. Mike loved driving, learning about cars, and teaching others how to become better, more confident drivers. The sound of an engine, the feeling of being on the track, and the friendships he formed through motorsports brought him tremendous joy.

More than any professional accomplishment, Mike will be remembered for the life he shared with the people he loved. He was a husband, a father, a son, a friend, a mentor, and a man whose presence left an impression on the people around him. He could be intensely driven and hardworking, but he also had a playful side, a sense of humor, and a way of creating memories in the ordinary moments of life.

Mike is survived by his wife, Dr. Carissa Ho Woo; his mother, Joungja Lee; his son, Dr. Youngjun Woo; his daughter, Sujin Woo; their mother, Grace Woo; his little brother, Kisung Woo; and his unborn daughter, Michelle Hyejin Woo, who will enter this world surrounded by stories of her father and knowing how deeply he was loved. He is also remembered by the many family members, friends, colleagues, employees, and loved ones whose lives he touched.

His sudden passing leaves an absence that words cannot fully express.

Mike lived a full and remarkable life, but he will not be remembered simply for what he accomplished. He will be remembered for who he was, for the people he loved, for the lives he influenced, and for all of the little things that were uniquely his.

For those who knew how much he loved cars, perhaps the sound of an engine will always bring a little piece of Mike back.

He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, Indiana 47630. A funeral service will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
