Patricia Elmer

Patricia Elmer, 73, beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1952 in Adrian, MI to the late Francis and Monica (Pettigrew) Herring.

Patty devoted her life to caring for others—both at home and in her calling as a nurse. In her over 30-year career, primarily at St. Mary’s Hospital, Patty’s compassion and calm presence comforted countless patients and families.

To her three children, she was a constant source of love, guidance, and unwavering support. She taught them kindness not by words but by the way she lived. Becoming a grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and she embraced the role with the same warmth and playfulness that defined her spirit.

She is survived by her children, Karen Seifert of San Jose, CA; sons, Jeffrey Elmer of Evansville, IN and Steven (Heidi) Elmer of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren Amelia and Miles Seifert of San Jose, CA; sisters Maryann (Lester) Stoll of Auburn, AL and Martha (Layne) Lindley of Washington, IN. She is preceded in death by her husband Mike Elmer and her siblings Mike (Sharon) Herring, Jim (Janet) Herring, and Joyce Sinnott.

Those who loved her will forever remember her gentle heart and especially her selfless nature. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched—at home, at work, and everywhere in between.

A private memorial will be held in Patty's honor. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Toys for Tots, honoring her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
