

Pat was born in Evansville, IN to Henry and Dorothy Fitzgerald on April 24, 1937.
She graduated from Bosse High School in 1955 and attended Indiana University.
In 1959, Pat married the love of her life, James A. Schaffer. They enjoyed 34 wonderful years together and had three children. Pat was a stay-at-home mom where she was very active in the community. She was a member and former President of the Women's Club of Newburgh, Welcome Wagon and Sharon Elementary School PTO. She was a part of many other organizations throughout the community including co-founding the Castle High School Marching Band Craft Show, which is still in existence today.
Pat and Jim owned The Olde Newburgh House Restaurant for many years as well as Trendz Cards and Gifts in Eastland Mall.
She was an avid reader, card player and enjoyed painting weekly at the Ohio Township Public Library. Pat was also a charter member of St. John's East in Evansville.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents, Henry and Dorothy Fitzgerald and in-laws, Charles and Jeannette Schaffer and Ranae Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Linda) Schaffer, Steven (Lisa) Schaffer and Susan (Ben) Randell, all of Newburgh; grandchildren, Taylor, Jourdan, Abby, Maddie and Claire Schaffer, Brittany Nunan; Will and Kate Randell; great-granddaughter, Anniston Schaffer; brother, James Fitzgerald of Indianapolis, IN; nieces and nephew, and her beloved cat, Jack Sparrow.
A Funeral Service will be10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Mike Claypool, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017 and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
