

Rebecca Elizabeth McConnell-Huff passed quietly Tuesday morning, October 6, 2015, at Golden Living - Woodlands in Newburgh, Indiana. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Newburgh. Rebecca was born on October 29, 1921, in Evansville, Indiana to William F. McConnell and Grethel E. Chandley-McConnell. Rebecca and her three siblings grew up on McConnell Avenue in Evansville. Rebecca attended Caze Elementary School and Bosse High School.
Ms Becky’s family was her strength outside of the church and her love for children were evident in all she did. She taught Sunday school for many years, using her own stories to bring reality of life to the hearts of little children.
Her oldest son Larry and his wife Kayron of Newburgh, Indiana, youngest son Roger, of Newburgh, and nephew William J. Huff and wife Mary Jo Huff of Newburgh survive her. Rebecca is also survived by grandsons Roger A. Huff of Newburgh, and Kelly D. Huff and his wife Claudia of Johns Creek, Georgia, granddaughters Christian Marie Bobe and husband David of Elberfeld, Indiana and Brandy Sanders of Brooklyn, New York. Surviving great-grandchildren are Alec C. Huff and Abby, Brian K. Huff, Katie J. Huff, Brianne N. Huff, Tristen C. Huff, William Higdon, Logan Higdon, Lane Norman, Douglas Norman, Samantha Sharp and husband Edward of Paducah, Kentucky, and Sabrina Wasuleski and husband Chad of Dongola, Illinois. Rebecca’s brother Robert McConnell and wife Martha of Knoxville, TN also survive her. Many loving nieces and nephews also survive Rebecca.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Coultas P. Huff (1985), grandson Stephen Lee Huff, and sisters Mary Watkins and Pearl Jamison.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be at Gateway Baptist Church on a later date, which has not yet been decided upon. However, memorial contributions may be made to one of the two: Gateway Baptist Church, 7564 IN-66, Newburgh, IN 47630, or Feed The Children @ www.feedthechildren.org.
