Richard W. Barfield

Richard Wayne Barfield passed away peacefully on July 7, 2021, in his home surrounded by loved ones after a lengthy battle with COPD. He was born March 4, 1936 to William Arnold Barfield Sr. and Maude Alice Barfield. Richard was a graduate of FJ Reitz High School in 1953. He retired from Whirlpool in 2003 after 47 years of service. He was a great Dad, father-in-law, husband, son, brother, uncle and proud Popi and will be dearly missed. He was a wonderful human that gave selflessly. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers and golf partners, William Arnold Barfield Jr. and Larry Wade Barfield. He leaves behind the love of his life of nineteen years, Brenda O’Bannon Barfield; his daughters, Terri Craig (Jim) and Jamie Goodman (Adam); his precious granddaughter, Emma Garnett and Kale and Whitley Goodman; his sister, Beverly Farr (Tom), and many adored nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Deaconess Hospice for their care in our time of need. Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261 on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service to be officiated by longtime family friend, Dawn Schwindel at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
