

Rick M. Gill, Jr., 53, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 17, 2011, after a long and courageous fight with ALS. He was born November 5, 1957, in Madisonville, KY. He was the only child of Richard (Pete) M. Gill, Sr. and the late Delores (Mills) Gill.
He kept his wonderful smile and attitude throughout his illness and brought happiness to all those who knew him. He was employed by SIGECO for twenty years and at Mohler Technology for 5 years. Rick was an avid UK fan and loved watching and attending NASCAR races. He loved sports of any kind and touched the lives of many individuals as he coached, refereed and umpired for many years in Newburgh youth sports.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Beth (Brackett) Gill; son, Darren; daughter, Meagan; father, Richard (Pete) and step mother Linda (Dunning) Gill of Newburgh; mother-in-law, Margaret Brackett of Mortons Gap, KY; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and some special honorary “grandchildren” that brought him great joy over the last few years.
Rick was lovingly cared for by the nurses and caregivers of Vistacare Hospice with special care being given by Teresa, Crystal, Tammy and Peggy.
Services will be 5:00 PM, Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. Brad Ferris. A graveside service will also be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 21, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Madisonville, KY. Friends may visit Sunday, noon to service time at the funeral home.
The world lost a special person today that will be greatly missed.
