Ruby May (Weyerbacher) Leslie, 93, Newburgh, IN, passed away January 10, 2022 at Gateway Hospital. Ruby was born in Warrick County on May 7, 1928 to Jacob William and Lana (Lacer) Weyerbacher. She was married to her beloved husband, Roy E. Leslie, Sr. October 21, 1945 until his passing on May 15, 2004.
Ruby and Roy enjoyed travels together by car and motorhome, visiting 48 states, Canada and Mexico. They created lifelong memories taking their six grandchildren camping. In the 70’s they were active members of the Jawjackers CB Club under the handles “Graderman” and “Parcel Post’, traveling as far as Florida for CB jamborees.
Ruby retired from the Newburgh Post Office in 1988 after 27 ½ years. She enjoyed visiting friends and family, crossword puzzles, cross-stitch, crafts, playing cards, and attending church with her daughter, Betty, grand daughter, Andrea and three grandsons.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Roy Sr., grandson, Darrell Leslie, Jr., her fiancé Henry Lee Chapman, siblings, Anna Lance, Nora Kuebler, Margaret Hicks, Nona Crow, Ruth Polk, Jean Holder, William Weyerbacher, Curtis Weyerbacher, Gilbert (Jack) Weyerbacher and Claudia Weyerbacher.
Ruby is survived by her daughter; Betty (Leslie) Peppiatt; sons, Roy Leslie, Jr. (June) and Darrell Leslie Sr. (Linda); grandchildren, Jim Leslie (Sara), Suzanne Johns (Jeff), Cathie Beard (Mark), Sondra Munselle (Jerry) and Andrea O’Dell; great grandchildren, Catlyn Treadway (Corey), Alexandria Leslie, Halie Beard, Jakeb Beard, Kelsie Beard, Shelby Chancellor, Shane Chancellor, Jr., Conor O’Dell, Luke O’Dell, Logan O’Dell, Dylan Hatt; one great-great granddaughter Cecelia Treadway and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN 47630, officiated by Pastor Tommy Epperson. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Private burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
