Ruth Ann Stegemoller, 74, of Newburgh, passed away at home on Monday, February 24, 2020. She was born November 7, 1945 in Ferdinand, Indiana to the late Raymond and Lorina (Denning) Wessel. She and her ex-husband, the late Bill Stegemoller, resided in many places throughout her life, including: Terre Haute, Culver, Vincennes, and Evansville in Indiana, as well as Pocatello, Idaho, and Silver City, New Mexico. She completed an associates degree at Western New Mexico University. She also lived in Sarasota, Florida where she worked as a certified nursing assistant in local nursing homes for 20 years. As a bibliophile, she always had a book to read, and she loved words, and a challenging crossword puzzle. Ruth was preceded in death by brothers Albert Wessel, Tom Wessel, and Raymond Wessel. She is survived by daughter, Debra McNutt (Mike) of Newburgh; son, Jason Stegemoller of Chicago; grandchildren, Blake McNutt and Clay McNutt of Evansville, and sisters Mary Ann Kippenbrock, Olga “Boots” Prior and Jane Rexing (Irwin). A Mass will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, officiated by Fr. Tom Kessler.
