Dear Cookie....I am so grateful you were able to track us down but so sorry it was with the sad news of Sam's passing. Sam was a fine man, a fine friend and a fine boss to me. He will always be remembered, especially how his face would light up into a big, broad smile before his infamous laugh! Richard and I want you to know we send our sympathies your way at this difficult time.

Dear Cookie,

For me, Sam was a very special person. He always had a smile and a laugh you couldn't forget. I remember fondly the times we walked the streets of New York City, or enjoyed the music at the Newport Jazz Festival. His spirit will live with us, bringing a smile to our face. Godspeed and Rest in Peace.

I've not seen Sam since high school, but I still have such fond and fun memories of those times. We both loved music and sang together in any group Mrs. Ewing had going. We had many fun times after these events, hanging out at Frisch's, etc. Sam's tenor voice was so clear and true, and now that I've lived more life, I'm more sure than ever that his soul was clear and true just like his voice. I pray God comforts you in your loss as you remember him with love.

Sam will be remembered as a good friend to many of us in San Francisco.
He was witty, smart, and fun to be around.
I am lucky to have known him and miss his smiles and repartee.
