Sandra Sue Mazzotti

She was born a “Yankee Doodle Sandy” on July 4, 1946 in Louisville, KY and was raised by her mother, Pauline Henke, and stepfather, Victor Henke, in Jasper, IN. She enjoyed an active childhood and developed a love of music early on, learning to play the accordion, harmonica, and later piano. She stayed busy as a Jasper Wildcat with concert choir, flags (guidon), and played Annie in the musical “Oklahoma!” her senior year. Much to her embarrassment, her family loved telling anyone they met from Jasper that she was also crowned the 1963-64 Basketball Homecoming Queen.

She met her husband John while living in southwestern Pennsylvania attending beauty school. They married in Jasper on November 26, 1966 and lived in Pittsburgh where she worked as a beautician until starting a family.

She had a deep faith and a quick wit. She enjoyed participating in Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) and the church choir at St. John the Baptist. She loved both the music and friendships she made there. She was also a BUNCO BABE- this group of dear friends kept her a member long after she could play independently.

She also loved the natural world, always ready when anyone asked her what the weather forecast would be, and had a respect for all living things. She would relocate any bugs or spiders found inside the house back to nature, helped many turtles cross the road, and fed and watered the birds religiously. She had many animals in her care over the years- dogs, cats, birds, sugar gliders, guinea pigs, a ferret and a duck. She always helped strays, taking in both animals and people without hesitation.

She worked for many years after moving back to Indiana for the family business she started with her husband, Mazzotti’s Dental Lab, and only recently had to quit coming along to work. She enjoyed writing poetry and caring for her eight grandchildren who all grew up with her cooking, baking, and sense of humor.

She is preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years and primary caregiver through her illnesses, John Mazzotti; her three daughters, Penny (Erik) Mullins, Dee (Paul) Bouseman and Sherry (Stephen) Wargel; her grandchildren, Emmie (Bradley) Robinson, John Mason, Fiona and Lilly Mullins, Olive and Jasper Bouseman, and Oscar and Stella Wargel, along with many beloved cousins.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, officiated by Fr. Crispine Adongo. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Her final resting place will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery.
