Sandy Kay Shamblin, 69, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. She was born on May 11, 1956, in Charleston, West Virginia.
Sandy was a loving and patient soul who brought joy to all who knew her. She had a passion for yard sale treasure hunts and never passed up a good bargain. One of her daily habits was enjoying a Sonic Diet Coke with regular cherry, a simple pleasure that always made her smile. In earlier years, Sandy enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, a hobby that brought her great joy. She was always a passionate cheerleader for her family and friends.
A devoted member of Townsend Bible Church since 1981, Sandy served faithfully in many roles over the years. Her love for her church family was evident in all she did.
During her time working at Yankeetown Elementary and Castle High School she was affectionately known as “Miss Sandy” where she served as a Health Aide. She wore many hats and cared deeply for the students and staff alike.
Above all, Sandy cherished her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with them, creating memories filled with laughter and love. At just 17 years old, while still in high school, she married the love of her life, Gerald. Though many doubted their young love, their 52-year marriage proved them all wrong and still going strong through the decades.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Gerald Shamblin; loving daughters, Leslie Parker (Barry) and Jessica Clinton (Jeremy); cherished grandchildren, Larson Parker, Berkeley Parker, Kaylynn Clinton, and Jacob Clinton; niece, Jordyn King; nephew, Shiloh King; and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Kidd Reynolds; sister, Connie Smith; and niece, Sherry Smith King.
A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Ron David. Livestream of the service will be available at
