He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his fulfilling career as a physician assistant in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. He cherished both his family at home and his work family. Outside of work, Scott enjoyed fishing, golfing, and woodworking. He also had a special talent for creating spectacular fireworks displays, bringing joy to family and friends for many years.
Scott is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Mitchell; son, Evan Mitchell and his wife, Megan “Sheely”; daughter, Sarah Croce and her husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Imogen “Ginny” Mitchell, Parker Croce, Wesley Rae Mitchell, Elaina Croce and Kestrel Mitchell; sisters, Susan Bauldry and Shauna Lezak, and her husband, John; nieces, Kerri (Voulo) Walsh and Lauri Voulo; nephews, Steven Voulo, Ryan Stoops and Daniel Stoops, along with his family, and in laws, Vicki Young and her husband Ron, and Mike Young, and his wife, Janice.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Mitchell; nephew, Jamie Stoops; and brother-in-law, Russ Bauldry.
The family would like to thank our family and friends, along with the congregation at First Christian Church for their support during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Kevin Bremner. Family and friends may visit Friday from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
