

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Shane “Dilbert” John Carey, a son, brother, uncle, and friend who touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Shane left behind a legacy of laughter and the most welcoming spirit, that will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
His legacy will live on through the many friendships Shane created, he was always the life of the party and welcomed everyone with open arms. As we say goodbye to Shane, let us remember the stories that made people laugh until they cried and the memories that fueled them.
Shane was a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. He enjoyed playing golf, wiffle ball, bowling, sports trivia, cheering on his favorite teams, going to concerts, and relaxing by the pool.
Shane Carey is survived by his loving grandmother, Dolores Carey; parents, Sharon (Fran) Marsh and Edward Carey; sisters, Jenna (Robbie) Offerman, Hilary (Tom) Brock; nieces, Jordyn Sallee, Alyson Collins, and Jenna Brock; nephews, Elijah and Griffin Sallee, Aiden, Justin and Jaxson Brock; numerous family members, friends, and the countless lives he touched.
In honoring his memory, let us come together to celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will never fade. Services to commemorate his life will be held at Alexander Funeral Home Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261 on Thursday, August 24, 2023. Family and friends may visit 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 6:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Phil Heller.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Kipplee's (bar side).
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Shane's name to a charity of your choice. Or to get the Cowboys a decent coach, haha.
