Obituary of Steven L. Noble
Steven L. Noble, (Nobes) 72, of Newburgh, went to his place in God's house on Friday, December 2, 2022, after a valiant battle with a long illness. He was born in Aurora, Illinois on May 23, 1950, to the late Keith Noble and Dorothy Tapp. Steve served with great valor as a decorated Marine in Vietnam, and was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star, for his outstanding heroism. He was a hero not only to those he served with, but to his family, and so many others here at home. He always put others before himself. Steve never met a stranger, and therefore amassed many wonderful friends during his lifetime. People were drawn to his charming and caring ways. After serving his country, Steve went on to make a name for himself in the graphic design field. He worked with several distinguished graphic design firms before becoming an independent designer. He designed for such well-known brands as Adobe, Samsonite, Boy Scouts of America, Trails End Popcorn, Burger King, Enfamil, Lange Skis, NYC Broadway Dance Troupe, Denver Children's Hospital, and too many others to mention here. Steve was a lifelong music enthusiast of all genres. He was an accomplished drummer at a very young age, performing with several Chicago, Denver, Miami, and Evansville bands. Steve even boasted that he was approached by a member of the band Chicago to be their drummer, but he was too young at the time. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and even at 10 years old, acquired a signed baseball from Ernie Banks, which he later traded for a worthless baseball card, not knowing the value of the signed baseball he was trading. Steve was a seasoned traveler, and has visited many countries, with Italy ranking as his favorite. He has lived in many U.S. metropolitan cities, allowing him to appreciate cultural diversification. Through his journeys, he has met many celebrities, including The Bee Gees, Robert Lamm of Chicago, Sugar Ray Leonard, Harrison Ford, Conan O’Brien, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell and Tom Hanks (the last three when he was an extra in the movie “A League of Their Own”), just to name a few. Steve is survived by his sister, Sandy; brother-in-law, Gus; niece, Nicole; nephew, Brandon; first cousins, Michelle and David, as well as numerous second cousins. He is also survived by his beloved husky, Sophie, and his cat Lucy. According to Steve’s wishes, no formal service will be held at this time. A Celebration of His Life is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 29, 2023. If interested, please email [email protected] for details. Steve was an advocate for those without a voice; all animals, big and small. Memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s name to The World Wildlife Fund at worldwildlife.org or The American Lung Association at action.lung.org. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderNewburghChapel.com.
