

Susan Bailey Jindrich of Newburgh, Indiana passed away on April 10, 2025 at the age of 79. She was born June 12, 1945 in Clarksville, Tennessee, and grew up the child of an Air Force family - living on bases across the US and in England.
Susan studied education at Auburn University, where she reconnected with her childhood friend, Jerry Jindrich, whom she had first met when living on an Air Force base in Fairbanks, Alaska at age six. She later earned a master’s degree at the University of Southern Indiana - with a focus on early childhood education.
Over the years, Susan worked in several roles in education: as a grade school teacher, a teacher and administrator for Head Start in Evansville, and eventually ran a 3-county Head Start Program. She finished her career as an adjunct professor and Early Childhood program chair at Ivy Tech - teaching others to become early childhood educators.
Along with her husband, Susan was actively involved in NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), and in her later years in the Southern Indiana Region Porsche Club of America. She enjoyed photographing the cars on club drives for the club website.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and James E. Bailey, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama, and by her younger sister, Elizabeth Thompson.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jerry Jindrich; daughter, Michelle Jindrich Tucker (husband, Jeff); sons, Michael Jindrich (wife, Anna) and Scott Jindrich (wife, Amanda); as well as by her six grandchildren ,Joseph, Samuel, Lauren, Nick, Zara, and Kai, and her brothers, Jim Bailey (wife, Sally) and Bob Bailey (wife, Jannah).
Susan’s family would like to thank the staff of the Woodlands memory-care facility in Newburgh for the care and compassion they showed Susan during her entire stay and especially in her final days.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road. Family and friends may visit Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time the church.
