V. Eilene Schneider

She retired from Guardian Industries after 27 years of service, and enjoyed working part time at Ellis Park. Eilene was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She loved taking care of everyone, putting herself last. She was a very loving woman, and her grandchildren were her joy. Eilene was the most loving and trusting wife.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven; brother James Deffendoll, Jr.; sisters, Oleta Rowans, Dorothy Liggette, Marilyn Lindsey, and Darlene Vanderberg.

Eilene is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter Schneider; daughter, E. Annette Heck, of Newburgh; granddaughters, Rachell E. Brown (Monte), Laura M. Weese (Jason); grandson, Daniel L. Heck; great granddaughter, Nalah Jade Brown; sisters, Martha McElfrish (Bob) of Florida, Betty Hayes of Albuquerque, NM, Carolyn Noel (Jim) of Evansville; brothers, John Deffendoll (Betty), and Charles Deffendoll (Maryann), both of Evansville; and 31 nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:30 PM, Friday, September 23, 2011, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN, with burial at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday, 1-8 PM at the funeral home.
