

William E. Frank, 80, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born November 21, 1930, in Spencer County on the family farm near Patronville on November 21, 1930 to Alvin and Gladys (Hamilton) Frank.
Bill ran Frank’s Christmas Tree Farm and Buggy Shed with his wife on their farm for 20 years. He retired from Lynnville Mine. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He also was an Operating Engineer for Local 181. Bill had worked jobs from the Gulf of Mexico to the California State line. He farmed and raised livestock, finding much joy in raising American Saddle Bred Horses with his daughter, Micki.
He was a member of the Newburgh United Methodist Church, Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, and Rockport American Legion. He graduated from Rockport High School in 1949. His friends enjoyed hearing Bill’s stories of the past. He was a great storyteller and loved to make people laugh.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Donald Frank.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley (Lang) Frank of Newburgh; son, Mike Frank (Vickie) of Richland, IN; daughter, Micki Wasson of Evansville; grandchildren, Kate Tomlinson (Ryan) of Nashville, TN, Paige Nepute (Josh) of Cincinnati, OH, Wil Frank of Reo, IN, Morgan Frank of Evansville, IN; sister, Janet Daniel of Rockport, IN; and a special niece, Shelia.
Service was held 10 AM, Friday, September 30, 2011, at Newburgh United Methodist Church, 4178 Indiana 261, officiated by Rev. Chris Nunley and Pastor Chuck Sommers, with burial at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Richland, IN. Military Honors were performed at the cemetery by the Rockport American Legion.
