William “Rodney” Wilkerson, 70, of Newburgh, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. He was born June 16, 1950 to the late John William and Maxine Wilkerson.

Rod retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for 30 years in Newburgh. He absolutely loved sports, the Chicago Cubs and was an avid golfer. He coached and devoted a lot of time to Newburgh Junior Baseball for many years. He loved being involved with his grandson’s sports and activities. Rod was a mobile notary and enjoyed helping people by going to their homes or the hospital. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with a big group of family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh.

Rod is survived by sons, Lance Wilkerson (Kim) and Ryan Wilkerson; grandson, Cal Wilkerson; longtime companion, Karen Miller, and brother, Mark Wilkerson.

A Memorial Service will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261 officiated by Pastor Mike Claypool. Friends may visit from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

I only met Mr. Wilkerson late in his life, but he was always a joy to be around. Even with pandemic, our visits were limited to phone or video, and he was engaged, happy, ready with a joke, and always glad to talk with me. Thank you for sharing so many wonderful photos! I heard tell of those Vegas trips, and I'm glad there's at least some evidence of the fun had by all. A kind, warm, wonderful person, he will be missed.

My heart breaks for you all . I’m so glad though that I was able to see the funeral and I so enjoyed your eulogies🥰 wow they were touching and you guys are amazing speakers! Humor runs deep in this family for sure! It was never a dull moment at Christmas or Thanksgiving with Uncle Rod around. I love you guys and miss seeing you all. Praying for healing
