

She graduated from Vincennes High School in 1958 and Murray State University in 1963 with a degree in Elementary Education. She later went on to earn a Masters Degree in Elementary Education at Indiana State University. Wilma taught at Franklin Vigo, Tecumseh and Riley Elementary schools in Vincennes, IN. She retired in 1992 to spend winters in Florida with her husband, Sam.
Wilma and her husband moved to Newburgh, IN in 2012. They became members of Living Word Christian Church. She loved reading, music, attending church, spending time with family, shopping and most of all, spending time with her husband, Sam.
Wilma is survived by her brothers, Chuck Winkler (Canda) and John Winkler (Diane); sister, Jennifer Meyer (Larry); stepson, Troy McClure (Kim); step-grandsons, Hayden and Reid McClure; special nieces, Carri, Kristen and Caitlin; special nephews, Patrick, Craig, Charlie and Kyle; special great nieces, Madelyn, Anna, Caroline and Emma, and special great nephews, Luke and Grant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Joe McClure, and her parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Tommy Epperson of Living Word Christian Church. Family and friends may visit Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Private burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.
