Antonio Correa

Ofelia Correa, nee Padron. Beloved father to Antonio S. (Hortencia Mendez) Correa, Janeth Correa,

Arturo (Maria Martinez) Correa, and Alejandro (Sandra) Correa; cherished Grandfather to Araceli,

Ricardo, Alexis, Alex, Alysa, Aiden, Angelo, Arturo, Angelique, Antonius, Aaliyah and Evelyna; Great-

grandfather to Ariel; Antonio was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Delfina Correa.

Antonio was a devoted union member of the Pipefitters Local 597 with 39 years of membership

beginning on May 11, 1981. He told many stories of all the building projects he was a part of in and

around the Chicagoland area. You couldn’t drive for too long before hearing the words “I worked on that

project over there.” By far, Antonio’s proudest moments as a union pipefitter was being a part of the

expansions of both the John G. Shedd Aquarium in 1991 and McCormick Place in 1997. His fondest

memories came from being part of the Soldier Field renovation and expansion, where his signature can

be found on the final ceremonial steel beam structure to be put in place. Antonio retired in 2005.
