Blanche was a giving soul and was always seeking to help others. She loved her family and friends. Her example was an inspiration in her unwavering dedication to those in need and her kindness to all. She cared for many who were in poor health or in end of life, and readily gave everything she could to help others. She was a light shining in every room that caused everyone to notice without her saying a single word. She was beautiful both inside and out.
Blanche attended the Art Institute of Chicago and University of Wisconsin. She was an impressionist painter who left behind many wonderful works. Having worked as an interior decorator for many years, she was always ready with a decor rating of any room as “good” or to be polite, “interesting”. She loved Southwestern design, having lived many years in California and in Taos New Mexico where she communed with the art community. She was an educator and volunteer, teaching the Lakota children “how to fly”, and volunteering at churches and schools.
She will be greeted in heaven by her dear husband Joseph Gabel, son Joseph Gabel, Mother Anna Zoula, Father Louis Zoula, Sister Rose (Zoula) Kohn, brother Louis Zoula, plus many other relatives, friends, and pets she loved throughout the years. She leaves behind her son Jim Gabel, daughter Andrea Gabel (John Finucan) and daughter Renee Gabel (Trip Garat); grandchildren Skylar Gabel, Merrigan Hildreth, Sean Gabel, Gefjon Garat, Evan Gabel, Emily Gabel, Stone Garat; and great grandson Remi Marshall Harris. She will be very missed!
The visitation will be held at Blake Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn, Illinois from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, March 25, 2022. Her life will be celebrated with a mass at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at St. Bernadette’s Church in Evergreen Park, Illinois. Interment St. Mary Cemetery.
