Bonnye Arnold-McGee, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024. Born on July 7, 1948, to Maryann and William T. Arnold, Bonnye was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and godparent who lived a life full of love, strength, and resilience.
Bonnye graduated from high school and, without delay, began working at Northern Trust Bank, where she built a remarkable 48-year career, working her way up to the top through sheer determination and hard work. Her dedication to providing for her family was unwavering, especially for her beloved daughter, Wanda McGee.
Family and helping others were the cornerstones of Bonnye's life. She was a proud grandmother to Ni'Amya Marshall, a loving godmother to Eunice Flowers and Kristen Lewis, and a devoted sister to Don Arnold. Bonnye loved shopping, being a grandma, and showing love to everyone she met, regardless of their background. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda McGee; her granddaughter, Ni'Amya Marshall; her brother, Don Arnold; her goddaughters, Eunice Flowers and Kristen Lewis; her special friend Les Richmond; her best friend Sharon Littleton; her step-grandchild Camren Carter; step-daughter Sam Friar, Calvin Friar Spouse, and a host of family and friends.
A prepast for Bonnye will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. Wake to follow from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Service held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 3401 W 87th St, Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
