Darren John Verderber

Darren John Verderber, Chicago Fire Department, age 50 passed away on August 6th, 2023. Darren was born on April 13, 1973 in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Darren was a beloved son, partner, father, brother and uncle.

Darren was known for his infectious laughter and his big heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always there for others, offering his help without hesitation. His generosity extended to both humans and animals alike. Darren truly loved life and cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He found great joy in watching his son’s sporting events and treasured the quality time they shared together. Darren was a dedicated man who valued the importance of strong personal and familial relationships.

In his educational pursuits, Darren attended Evergreen Park High School and went on to earn an Associates in Art Degree, along with multiple certifications in Fire Service education.

Darren dedicated his career to serving others as a firefighter and paramedic. He served with distinction in the Chicago Fire Department, as well as the Evergreen Park Fire Department. His commitment to saving lives and protecting his community was admirable. Outside of his professional life, Darren had a passion for various hobbies. He enjoyed weight lifting, practicing martial arts, bike riding, engaging in outdoor activities, poetry reading and writing his own works.

In memory of Darren Verderber contributions can be made to the Naws No Kill Humane Society, located at 9981 190th Street, Mokena, Illinois. This organization was close to Darren’s heart, as he held a deep love for animals.

Darren will be deeply missed by his significant other, Nicole Marriner, his parents Karen Verderber and the late John Verderner, his children Cain, Lexi, and Skyelar, his siblings Brandon and Allison, nieces and nephews Grayson, Greta, and Nolan, along with many other relatives and friends. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever remember his laughter and kindness.

May Darren Verderber rest in peace, knowing that he made a positive impact on the lives of so many.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Darren that will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Linus Catholic Church, 10300 Lawler Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453. Interment private at this time.
