David Lemont Allen

David Lemont Allen, age 55, was born January 31, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to the loving union of John Jr. and Vernice Allen, both of whom preceded him in death. David was the youngest of four children.

At 1:30 a.m. on August 9, 2026, David peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, service, compassion, and love. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the countless memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

David accepted Christ at a young age at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, where he was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. His faith became a meaningful foundation throughout his life and remained a guiding presence throughout his educational and professional journey.

David began his education at St. Margaret of Scotland School and later attended Quigley South College Prep High School. He continued his studies at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he earned a degree in Psychology. His education helped shape the natural gifts that would define his life's work—his ability to listen, understand, encourage, and help others find their way forward.

David's professional life was a true reflection of his compassionate spirit and his genuine desire to serve others. His career began at St. Margaret of Scotland School, where he taught and inspired young minds, encouraging students to recognize their potential and strive for success.

He continued his commitment to helping others at Lydia Health Care before accepting a position at Haymarket Rehabilitation Center. There, David counseled and supported individuals struggling with addiction, helping them navigate the difficult road toward recovery while connecting them with employment, housing, and other essential resources. His work was more than a profession—it was an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who needed someone to believe in them.

David later joined the Cook County Circuit Court, a position he greatly enjoyed because it allowed him to interact with, assist, and serve so many people. He continued his life's mission of service with the State of Illinois Department of Human Services, where he guided clients toward programs and resources designed to improve their medical, social, and economic well-being.

David was also a proud founding member of Benevolence Mason Lodge #55.

Throughout his life, David was known as a motivator, a guide, an inspiration, and a source of encouragement. He possessed a special gift for making people feel seen, valued, and supported. He had a way of reminding others that no matter how difficult life became, there was always a path forward. Helping people was not simply something David did—it was an essential part of who he was.

David leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Daviana Allen, David Allen Jr., and Jaylin Hall; his stepchildren, Armani Clayton, Devinier Hall, DeAngelo Clayton, and Shaqulle Hall; his grandchildren; and the cherished memory of his stepchild, Taynyia Hall, who preceded him in death.

He also leaves his siblings, John III and James of Colorado; Eric and Gwen of Alabama; and Tanya and Curtis of Chicago; along with Theresa Ferrell, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends who were blessed to know him.

David's legacy can be found in every person he encouraged, every life he helped, every mind he motivated, and every heart he touched. His compassion, faith, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping others created an impact that will continue long after his earthly departure.

Though David has earned his wings, the spirit of service and love that defined his life will continue through the many people he influenced. His presence will be deeply missed, his memory will be lovingly honored, and his legacy will remain forever cherished.

Rest peacefully, Dave. Your work here is done, but the love you gave and the lives you touched will continue to speak your name. Your legacy lives on.
