David Coyne

David Coyne Ret. CFD passed on August 20, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on December 7, 1934 to the late Patrick and Jane Coyne; Beloved husband of Joan Coyne; Loving father of the late David Coyne (1957-2009), Patrick (Jessica) Coyne, Caryn Coyne, Brian (Lori) Coyne, MaryBeth (Marcus) Benedetti, and J. Benjamin Nowak; Cherished grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 2; Dear brother of the late Mary (the late Ray) McGovern, Thomas (Survived by Mary) Coyne, P.J. (Survived by Oda) Coyne, Jean Coyne, Jack Coyne, Bobbie (Survived by Rita) Coyne and Emmett Coyne.

David was a proud member of the Chicago Fire Department Local 2, joining in 1952 until his retirement in 1995. David was proud of his city, his faith, but, most of all he was proud of his family and loved spending time with them telling stories. He will be remembered as always smiling, with a twinkle in his eye. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His legacy will go on with the memories made, and stories to tell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on September 12, 2026 at 10:30am at St. Gianna Catholic Church 10233 S Central Park Ave, Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
