God Bless You Dave. You were a kind and awesome neighbor. Heavenly rest to you on this day.

Just searched for Dave zand saw his deth notice. So sorry to hear of his untimely death. I was Dave's neighbor in Country zClub Hills and knew Jim and his family sincec1959. Yes, he was a kind man and had many happy times growing up with him. God Bless You Dave. You will always be remembered in my heart. Geri Maslan

Dave was a great  guy.  I was very happy when he took on leadership at Troop 596.  His heart was alway in the right place and he showed it through his leadership, and  his actions.   It was an honor to have worked with him in scouts.  

My condolences to the Strahorn Family.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Dave since Grade School.  We worked together throughout High School and College on the summer maintenance crew for School District 160.  I have fond memories of countless hours at Dave’s house, swimming, playing basketball, all night poker games and eating from the bottomless pot of Soppy Joe, that seemed to always be on the stove.


You may remember Dave’s love for music, from his huge record collection, playing in the Rich Central Jazz Band, and DJ’ing at the Brickyard.  One night, back in 1983, Dave dragged me out to some south side bar to see some band he had heard of.  Don’t really remember much about the bar or the band, but I met Karen that night, who would in short time become my Wife.    


Thanks Dave, I will be forever grateful to you for your lifelong friendship.

I will never forget Dave, his friendship most.
All the fun, crazy things we did, I will never forget.
Thank you Dave for the Good Times, the Understanding, the Bad/ Unpleasant times as well.

Dave was one the best people I’ve ever known.  My condolences to Pam, David jr., Patrick and his sister Sharon.  My memories go back to the seventies and the numerous good times together.  Dave had an ability about him to always turn conversations positive and who was always willing to help.   I remember driving home late one night decades ago with my wife Laura and having car trouble.  I called Dave and he came out and drove us twenty miles home and spent the night and drove us back to our car the next day.  Dave was known for not thinking of himself.  His sons are his legacy and I could only imagine the good that they witnessed having him as their father.  I know they are stronger because of him, I know I am.  I will not forget him and the pleasure that it was to have known someone like my friend Dave.
