Dr. Denis Patrick Curran, 81 years old, of Bloomingdale, Michigan and formerly of Craigneuk, Scotland, passed away May 13th, 2021. Beloved son of the late Hannah (nee McMenemy) and Patrick Curran, Loving brother of Margaret (Maggie) Graney, and preceded in death by siblings, Baby Catherine Curran, James (Ellen) Curran, May (Patrick) Hanley, Rena (Mel) O'Dette, Teresa Robichaud and Patricia (John Gavin). Loving father of Patrick (Andrea), Robert (Ashley), and Andrew. Loving grandfather of Lily and Sydney. Cherished uncle and cousin to many.
Denis was born in Scotland and lived at 17 Laurel Drive in Craigneuk. In June of 1955 he immigrated with his family to Chicago where he spent most of his life. He served in the United States Army from 1961 - 1964 where he was stationed in France and Germany. Received his Bachelors (1971), Masters (1976), and Doctorate of Education (1989) from Loyola University in Chicago. He was an educator for the Chicago Public School system for 35 years. He was a former member of Chicago’s Stockyard Kilty Band and soccer coach for Saint Joseph’s in Westchester, IL and Washington High School in Chicago as well. Denis also enjoyed fishing, was known for telling jokes and his bright spirit, and spreading his love for The Lord, Jesus Christ, and Mary The Mother Of God.
A memorial visitation will take place at Blake Lamb Funeral Home located at 4727 W. 103rd St. Oak Lawn, IL from 4pm to 8pm on May 24th, 2021. A memorial mass will be held at St. Cajetan Catholic Church located at 2445 W. 112th St. Chicago, IL at 11 am on May 25th, 2021. Internment will be private.
