Words cannot express the sadness I feel, she was as inspiration to everyone who had her at Calumet High School. My deepest sympathies to her family. Ms. Walsh will be missed, but she is always with us with the wonderful memories of her.     Rose Barraco - George

Mrs.  Walsh was the shining star that guided her students, friends and family. I know when I look to the heavens she will be twinkling down on us. She was an inspiration and role model.  Marci Rintoul Scholtes, Calumet alumnus and friend. I will miss her.

Mrs. Walsh instilled a love of The Classics, Shakespeare and contemporary
novels to her classes. She was by far, everyone's favorite English teacher.

Mrs. Walsh was the best teacher I ever had also. She was an inspiration for many of us. Back in those days, she wanted us to be creative and use our imagination when writing essays or else she she'd give it back and tell a kid to think harder.  In other words, she made us think outside the box – a term that was not heard of until years later. May she rest in peace.

Mrs. Walsh made us actually read the 'classic' books by using the 'book report test'. What a great way to get kids to read and think! Her great sense of humor  helped us get through English with a smile.

English had never been my favorite subject.  Mr. Walsh had a way of demanding the best from her students as well as making the subject interesting.  I will always be thankful for her dedication and her love of her students.  Also for the love of reading that she instilled in me, it has served me well.

I was drawn to teaching because of the experiences I had at Calumet High School. Teachers like Mrs. Walsh showed that they cared deeply for the students they dealt with on a daily basis and beyond. She built the future.
