

Edna Norma Mosquera, 96, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, was born on March 16, 1930, in La Ceiba, Honduras, the daughter of Victor and Muriel Martinez. On August 9, 1962, she left Honduras and arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana, with her niece Eva and nephew George. In New Orleans, she met the love of her life, Juan, and they were married on August 17, 1963. They later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where they built a life together and raised their family. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Sebastian, St. Bonaventure, St. James, and St. Bede Catholic Churches in Chicago. On March 19, 2026, Edna passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Edna was the beloved wife of Juan R. Mosquera; loving mother of John R. Mosquera Jr. and Edward Mosquera; cherished mother-in-law to Marina Mosquera and Leticia Mosquera; and proud grandmother of Sandra L. Mosquera, Marina L. Mosquera, and Jessica Marquez. She was the dear sister of Roberto Martinez and Vilma Jarquin, and sister-in-law to Amparo Martinez and Guillermo Jarquin. She was preceded in death by her siblings Victor Martinez and Madeline Martinez, and by her sister-in-law Carmen Martinez. Edna was also a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A morning Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 8:15am-9:20am at Blake Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn, IL. Following with a Mass of Chrisitan burial at St. Bede Parish, 8200 S Kostner Ave, Chicago, IL 60652. Interment at St Mary Cemetery
