Edwin started his first of many life and career choices after High School at UPS where he quickly rose to Supervisor. He remained there for 5 years while he tended and cultivated his other passions: entertaining, DJing, and bodybuilding. In 2012, looking for other challenges, he sold off what he had and started a new life in Reno, Nevada where he DJ'ed and managed a kitchen. Missing home, he returned to Chicago in 2014. It was upon his return he renamed himself John Connor, his DJ name that stuck with him even as his careers, girlfriends, and homes changed. Edwin joined Southwest Airlines and made supervisor within a year and in 2015 he joined the Cook County Sheriff's Department. Edwin worked as a Sheriff's deputy for 6 years, while he unfailingly was dedicated to his passions of DJing and bodybuilding. His skill as a DJ became honed over the years and he performed at venues like the House of Blues, DSTRKT, Reverie, and Green Dolphin Street.
He continued making friends in all his interests until that itch for adventure called him again. Unafraid of reinventing himself and starting over, he sold off everything, again, and moved to Costa Rica. The call of being “home” eventually became overwhelming, and once again he moved back to the city he loved returning as a fitness trainer, never letting go of the gym. At the age of 34 he proudly joined the Chicago Police Department. Even as the oldest in his graduating class, he was awarded "Best Fit", for being the most physically fit graduate from his Police Academy class. Edwin loved the CPD, where his love of fitness and DJing gave him special jobs within the force.
Edwin was relentless in his passions never going halfway with anything. If he was going to dedicate himself to something, he went 100%. This was admired and appreciated by everyone he came across. He inspired countless people and helped anyone that came to him for help and advice. Edwin always wanted people to have a good time and smile, whether it was turning music on and dancing with his mom, long nights out with his friends, or watching wrestling and practicing body slams with his brothers and cousins.
Edwin is survived by his parents, Maria and Gabriel Espinoza, brothers Erik (Victoria) and Alexis (Mia), and his little sister Gabriela (Niko). Fond uncle of Nathan, Alex, Linc, Adonis, Adrian, Lucy and Cousin to many.
