Eileen T. Collins

Collins, Eileen Therese (nee Lundy) 81, died peacefully surrounded by her family on February 6, 2015, after a long illness. Eileen was born on April 13, 1933 in Chicago to William (CPD) and Esther (Gavin) Lundy. She graduated from Visitation HS in 1951 and Little Company of Mary Nursing School in 1954. Eileen met the love of her life, Steve, at a dance at St. Kilian's. They married on February 9, 1957, and began 43 of the most wonderful years of their lives, a vibrant example of a happy marriage. Eileen was preceded in death by her cherished husband and best friend, Stephen, in 2000. Beloved mother to Laura (Pete) Hoffman and Geralyn (Pete) Sorrentino. Caring Nana of Sara, Eve, Nicholas, Stephanie, and Caroline. She is preceded in death by her devoted and protective older brothers, Bill, Bernie, and Jimmy Lundy. Special sister-in-law of Aileen Lundy, the late Marion Lundy, Mary and John McMaster, Jack and the late Joan Collins, and Marcia and the late Joe Collins. Favorite aunt, great aunt, and cousin to many. Skilled nurse at Little Company of Mary Hospital for more than 40 years. Her favorite area of expertise was in the Emergency Room. She sadly leaves behind many fun neighbors and friends from her numerous activities including nursing school classmates, theatre and movie buddies, travel companions, poker and bridge pals. Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Nurse, and Friend. Thank you for being a part of her life. Those we have laughed with, learned from, leaned on, and loved most, leave us with the very best memories.
