Eileen Hornung-Goetz, age 52, of Kankakee, IL, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was born in Oak Lawn, IL on September 20, 1968 to George and Grayce Hornung.
Eileen’s warmth radiated like the warmest, brightest sun. She held all close to her with such profound love, gentleness, and forgiveness. Eileen had a passion for her family, flowers, the color purple, animals, shoes, cooking, gardening, doodling, music, sharing family recipes and stories, making all feel safe, comfortable and at ease. Her smile and laugh were contagious beyond belief. She was the life of the party, always ensuring a good time, deep belly laughs, dancing, and unforgettable memories. She had a twinkle in her eye that was mischievous and playful, a purse in her lips that will never be forgotten. Eileen is survived by her mother, Grayce; husband, George; children, Amanda (Nic), Emily, Amelia, Michael, Marian; stepdaughter, Amber; grandchildren, Lilyan, Wayne, Savanna, Floyd, Cayden, Corgan, Cloe; siblings, Bryan (Ruth), Marian Grayce (Randy), Kevin, Jimmy (Debbie), and Constance.
She was preceded in death by her father, George; and brothers, Michael and Georgie.
A Celebration of Eileen's life will be held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W 103rd St., Oak Lawn, on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 4pm. Friends may greet the family from 2pm until time of service.
