Gayle A. Gawlik, nee Miles, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2021. Beloved wife of 46 years to Donald J. Gawlik. Loving mother of Bradley (Kendra) Gawlik and Amy (Michael) Newman. Cherished grandmother of China, Lexie, Makayla, Lorelai, Addisyn, and Brycen. Devoted sister of the late Eileen & the late Bruce Albee, Joan Mares, and Sharon Miles. Dear aunt of many nieces & nephews.

Gayle achieved her personal goal of earning her Bachelors in Nursing while working part time and raising two teenagers. Gayle retired after 39 years as an obstetrics nurse at Palos Hospital. She loved to cook (enough to feed an army). She was a huge fan of Harry Potter and Star Wars and could often be found having movie marathons on the weekends.

How do you say goodbye to a wonderful friend you have known for 44 years.
We have lots of memories of children's birthday parties, Christmas and New Year's Eve get togethers, Mexican restaurants with pitchers of margaritas until YOUR lips were numb, camping in Indiana, the Breakfast Club get togethers, Nashville, and many more.
But simply enjoying each others company in the back yard, and laughing continuously, those were the best times.
We will miss you until we meet again, and then we will make more memories.

My friend, I’m so sad with your passing. We worked together for 22 years and friends for 27. I loved to tease you and make you laugh. You were always smiling and so much fun. You had a great sense of humor. I know how much you loved your family and would do anything for them and your friends. Rest In Peace my girl I love you and someday we will me again. Arms open wide

Gayle and l went to nursing school together. She was always smiling! I loved her sense of humor, her intelligence and her ability to make the best of any situation. Don, it breaks my heart that you lost the love of your life. And Amy and Brad, you were her pride and joy. And grandchildren? She couldn’t stop talking about them. Gayle, you will be missed by so many.

I've been Gayle and Don's insurance agent since 2015, assisting them with their retirement. I always felt so welcome in their home and looked forward to our annual reviews as well as any opportunity I had to stop in and say hi. This past fall, Gayle presented me a GIANT stuffed Unicorn to give to my new daughter, Madelyn. Maddie now loves that unicorn and it will always have a special spot in my heart. Gayle was an incredibly kind and loving soul, and she will be greatly missed.
