We loving call Gayna the matriarch of the Machtmi (as Keith likes to call us) family. Gayna was the one who remembered who was married to who, who their kids were and what they were up to. That was probably because she was the oldest of the cousins. She always remembered my friends names, their families and what was happening with them and asked about them frequently. You could sit at her kitchen table drinking coffee or beer and chat for hours. You always felt loved when you were her. I believe she got that from her Mom, Marge.

When our cousin Eileen and her husband Ken lived in Effingham then Atlanta, Gayna and I went to visit. We probably drove Ken crazy with our hysterical laughing so hard it would leave us crying. We actually ached from laughing . Those were wonderful times that will be carved in my heart forever.

Keith, Kathy, Josh and Jordan were her everything. She always said she had been blessed with the best daughter in law and grandchildren in the world, she was right! Keith was her Keith so I don't need to say more. I am sure all four of them know that she was so very proud of each and every one of you. Every time we talked there was a wonderful story about what one of them had done, sometimes it was something amazing and other times just plain funny.. I truly believe she was getting through all of this by looking forward to what major accomplish one of them had coming up. I remember last summer watching Jordan's then Josh's games on her computer while we were visiting. Every visit we went through all the new pictures of Josh, Jordan and her Avery.

On a personal level I am mourning. As a believer in My Lord, Jesus Christ I know she is in heaven enjoying her new life free of pain and sorrow with Curt, her Mom and Dad, Patrick and John along with her many friends and relatives. Her journey there was a long, tough one which will make it her reward all the sweeter.

I will always remember her being very welcoming from the first time I met her. Always greeting me with a very enthusiastic hug! But mostly I will always remember the pride and love that beamed from her face when she looked at her son! She will be truly missed. My love and sympathy to your entire family.

Of all the things my dad gave me, Auntie Gayna was definitely one of my favorites. She made me feel like a strong and powerful Nutile woman. She made me feel like home. And I will miss her deeply.

I first meet Gayna 10 months ago. I immediately thought her and I would get along. I was Gayna's caregiver and friend for the last 10 months and we had many laughs, a few tears but basically we were grateful for our meeting.
Gayna was very attached to her family and she used to tell me stories of her grandchildren, Josh & Jordan. She looked forward to hearing about their school and sports that they were involved in. This was one proud Nonnie!
Gayna also expressed how much her Son, Keith and daughter in-law, Kathy meant to her. She was also a wonderful aunt to Gina and Laura, she always called them "my girls" and worried about them all the time.
Let's not forget about Avery. Gayna was her great aunt and very proud of her, she received pictures of her daily from Gina and looked forward to them daily. Gayna was very blessed to have such an amazing family & Friends.
My condolences to her family...you were all so blessed to have Gayna in your lives.
I was so lucky to know this amazing woman!
Goodbye my friend!
