Gregory P. Coakley

He was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (nee Paserpsky) Coakley, with whom he shared a life filled with love, family, and many treasured memories. A loving father of Laura (Michael) Murphy, Christina (Ryan) McMillin, and Jonathon (Tracy) Coakley, and the cherished grandfather of Samantha, Kathleen, and Giada.

A proud United States Army Veteran, Gregory lived a quiet and meaningful life centered around the things he loved most. He was an avid reader who enjoyed all types of books and could often be found immersed in a good story. An outdoorsman at heart, he especially loved fishing, camping and spending time in nature.

Gregory and Phyllis shared a special appreciation for the arts. Together, they enjoyed attending paint shows, going to the theatre, and watching plays. Some of Gregory's most treasured memories were made with his family during camping trips and visits to their home in Wisconsin. These times together created memories that his family will carry with them always.

Gregory's love was shown through his presence, his devotion to his family, and the many moments he shared with those he cared about. He was deeply loved, and his absence will be felt in countless ways.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Interment with Military Honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois, on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.

Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery by 11:30 a.m. to allow time to assemble and proceed together to the committal shelter for the 12:00 p.m. service.
