Henry “Hank” V. Rossetti, age 93, August 1, 2017. Beloved husband of Katherine and the late Lorraine; loving father of Michael (Grace), Alan (Patricia), Kenneth (Cynthia), Jeffrey (Suzanne), Valorie Long, Allison Armstrong and late Kimberly Neace; cherished grandfather of David, Christopher, Mark, Cheryl, Matthew, Nicholas, Daniel, Kevin, Nathan, Nicholas, Rebecca, Gabrielle and Madelyn; dear brother of the late Phyllis Andrade; fond uncle of many.
Hank was a WWII Army veteran serving in the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper and medic. He participated in D-Day, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star, as well as various other awards, for his actions during the war.
Hank was blessed to have two wonderful women with whom to share his life. In 1948, he married his first wife, Lorraine. In 1954, they moved into their Southwest Side home, where they would raise their four sons. When the nest was emptied, Hank and Lorraine particularly enjoyed weekend getaways and trips to Las Vegas. They would share 43 years together, until she passed away in 1991.
Subsequently, he met Kathy and they were married in 1996. They were together for 20 years. Hank met many new friends through Kathy and they enjoyed attending social activities, especially going on cruises to various destinations.
Hank was a lifelong White Sox fan and was thrilled to be honored on the field as “Hero of the Game” in 2013. He liked to play golf and had a hole-in-one witnessed by two of his sons. He loved to watch western movies and TV shows, especially “Gunsmoke.” He particularly enjoyed playing card games. Hank laughed and joked a lot and made friends everywhere he went. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them. His family will miss his quick wit and sense of humor.
