Howard Shenault

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Howard was the beloved son Katie. As a young boy, his mother found a loving partner in Mack whose marriage to Katie completed their family. Mack lovingly embraced Howard as his own son, providing the guidance, love and support that helped shape the remarkable man he became. Mack preceded Howard in death, and we find comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.

Howard attended Kennedy King College and lived life filled with purpose and resilience and passion. In his younger years, he was involved with the Black Panther Party and earned a Black Belt, reflecting his strength, discipline and commitment to his community. During the 1970’s, he shared his love of music as a singer with the group The Musicians, bringing joy to others through his talent.

Howard accepted Christ at a young age, and his faith remained a steady foundation throughout his life. He enjoyed a diverse and accomplished career, serving as the CEO of Chicago Fashion Associates later working as a computer programmer and photographer. Yet, the role that brought him the greatest fulfillment was caring for his beloved mother during the last seven years of her life. He considered it a privilege to honor her with the same love and devotion she had always shown him.

Although Howard found success in his professional life, his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an extraordinary grandfather. Nothing brought him greater joy then spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”. His warm smile, quiet strength, words of wisdom and unconditional love created memories that will be treasured for generations.

Howard leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted wife of 55 years, Pegalyn; his beloved mother Katie; his loving children Tonya, Eric, and Sabrina; and his treasured grandchildren, S'aton, Eric Jr., Morgan, Mariana, D’Eric, and Mia. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members, lifelong friends and all whose lives were blessed by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice in knowing that Howard’s legacy of Faith, Love, Compassion, and Dedication will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a chapel funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Evergreen Park, Illinois.
