Jay was born in Chicago on April 28th, 1947 to Therese J. Walker and James W. Walker.
He is survived by his children; Jayme Walker and Jessica Presnak and his brother, Dennis Walker. He is predeceased by his Mother, Therese. J. Walker; his father, James W. Walker; his sister, Jean Callahan; and his brother Daniel Walker.
He was retired from both the U.S. Coast Guard and the United States Postal Service.
Loving father of Jayme (Lauren Powley) and Jessica (Matt) Presnak. Stepfather to Steven Youngquist (Tricia). Proud Papa of Renee, Allison and Elliot.
He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Seinfeld and watched them daily. He loved soaking up the sun while wearing his Hawaiian Tropics Dark Tanning Oil on a hot summer day. He had a big heart for nature. He enjoyed watching birds and squirrels at his feeders and collecting different leaves and sticks outside. He loved all his indoor plants and found it fun to care for them.
He had a love for books and bicycles and had a large collection of both. He loved when someone brought him a McDonalds Hamburger, cookies, or a good pizza and was always found carrying around at least a couple pretzel rods along with either a Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper which he couldn’t live without.
People who cared for him loved him for his quirky personality and his unique sense of humor. He always had people laughing and loved to joke around. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, Jay LOVED plants and we would be appreciative of any and all plants, flowers, or seeds sent. Our Dad did do a lot of gardening back in the day (won best sweet corn one year in Michigan 😁) and even studied plant biology for a while at Lake Michigan College. We would love to carry on his memory through gardening (herbs, fruits, vegetables etc.) and planting native flowers. He would love it! So if you prefer to order seeds in his memory that will be planted at a later date, they can be ordered through either of these websites:
