James Mack Whitmore, Sr. age 75, was born in Mason, Tennessee on February 16, 1943 to Morris and Katherine Whitmore. He was the sixth of thirteen children born to this union. Wednesday, November 7, 2018, the Lord called him home.

James leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife for over 50 years, Frankie Mae Whitmore; three loving children, Pauline Whitmore, Jennifer Whitmore and James Whitmore, Jr. two beautiful granddaughters, Melody and Melissa Sprolls; five sisters, Margaret Smith and Mary Williams both of Mason, TN, Carolyn O’Neal and Clementine Whitmore of Memphis, TN, and Shirley Jean (Joe) Gibson of Nashville, TN; three brothers Joe L. (Mildred) Whitmore of Chicago, IL, Charles (Cynthia) Whitmore of Stratford, Virginia, and Earnest (Mary) Whitmore of Stone Mountain, GA. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends to cherish and celebrate his life.

Biography

James Mack Whitmore, Sr. was born in Mason, Tennessee on February 16, 1943 to Morris and Katherine Whitmore. He was the sixth of thirteen children born to this union. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Clarence and Morris, Jr. and two sisters Chester Jean and Pearlean. James was baptized at an early age. James attended and graduated from Longtown grammar school and graduate from Fayette County High School. While attending a high school basketball game he met the love of his life, Frankie Mae Macklin. The two were united in holy matrimony. To this union they were blessed with three children, two daughters Pauline and Jennifer and a son James Whitmore, Jr.

James was a dedicated family man. His main priority was to take care and provide for his family. While living in Longtown, TN he worked at the Longtown Gin Refinery and in 1968 he decided to relocate to Chicago for better employment. James attended Old Land Mark Church in Chicago, Illinois. He was a spiritual man and was always involved in some kind of church activities. James’s career in Chicago began at the Pipper’s Alley in Old Town Chicago. He later was employed at the Union Oil Refinery doing maintenance where he worked and for thirty years and retired. James enjoyed raising his family, doing odd jobs around the house like plumbing work, and planting flowers in the summertime. He’ll be dearly missed by his family, friends and anyone who knew him.

James’s health began to failure about seven years ago and on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 the Lord called him home.
