Janet M. Martino, 53, of Chicago, IL; beloved wife of Fredrick White; loving mother of Elliott; cherished sister of Richard Martino, Roy (Jacquie) Martino, Lynette (Jerry) Golak, Russell (Carol) Martino, Terese (Juan) Garcia, Susan Martino and the late Ronald J. Martino; sister-in-law of Sherri Marenkovich, Mark White, Tim White and Dinah (David Sherman) White; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews. On August 29, 2015 at 6:00 PM the World lost a great person and a terrific nurse, I lost a wonderful friend and a loving wife. My son lost a loving mother and her family lost a terrific sister and a great aunt. Her name – Janet Martino, born May 11 1962. Janet will be truly missed on Earth. Over the past 33 years I got to know Janet really well. She was very intelligent and giving. She worked as a home health care nurse 6 days a week and often 10 to 12 hours a day. When she was not on the payroll she still went and saw her patients when they called her cell, she was always there for them. On Sunday, her only day off, she cooked breakfast for the homeless who lived in local parks and under local viaducts. She would then go to Church, come back home and start cooking supper for the same homeless people and the Priests of a couple Churches she went to when she got struck with cancer in Aug of 2014 she was mostly upset because it interfered with her routine. She was more concerned about who would see her patients and if the homeless had anything to eat. She was brave and fought back hard. She did not want anyone to know how sick she was or to feel sorry for her. On Friday before her passing she went to the hospital to have a blood test so she could get off one of her medicines, the shots 2 times, a day as she was looking forward to seeing her sister and her family who lived in Arizona in October and the shots were stopping her plans. The Doctor said that her blood work was fine and she could stop, she was very happy and excited. First time in a year for no more shots. She was very happy. So my love, YOU WILL BE MISSED, missed by many. While you sit at the hand of God and are no longer in pain, we, your loved ones share the pain of losing you to a more important role in Gods house and pray that one day we will meet again. You are loved and missed.

Funeral Friday, 9:15 a.m. from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St., Oak Lawn to St. Rene Goupil Church, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. Info 708-636-1193
