John L. Callaghan, 63, peacefully entered into rest on April 7, 2026, following an extended illness. As a South Side native, John always kept a special place in his heart for his Chicago neighborhood and the lifelong friends he made there. He appreciated the simple things: a good meal, the satisfaction of a job well done, and grilling outdoors. John was a talented handyman with an eye for detail, he took pride in everything he fixed.
John always looked forward to catching up and sharing a laugh with family and friends. Those who knew him best will remember his sense of humor; he always had a well-timed joke or a clever remark ready to lighten the mood.
John is survived by his sons John (Tina), Tom (Michele), and Kevin (Erica); his siblings Toni, Tom, and Mike; and his cherished 8 grandchildren. He also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Callaghan.
