I worked with John at Central Detention until my retirement in 2012. He was a great Police Officer and a great man. I'll miss him. Prayers to John and his family. May he now be a member of the Lord's Honor Guard.

John was a true friend and coworker.  These are a few of some of the things I remember about John... 

John had a great sense of humor.  He was always the first to offer help and he performed his duties professionally.  John had a great laugh and he always enjoyed a good joke.  When John became your friend, he was your friend through good times and bad.  He had a love of the blues and rock and roll music especially the guitar.  John loved all the great guitar players.  He also enjoyed Italian food.  He would would always stop by our house during the Christmas holidays with a box of Italian bakery cookies!  When Alan and I would talk with John, we also got around to talking about food and recipes, especially John's Grandmothers cooking!  He would tell us about her cooking Sunday and Holiday dinners.  

I will miss my dear friend John he was a remarkable person.

John was my dear friend and a fellow officer of the Chicago Police Dept.  He was a veteran of the 15th District and later assigned as a  Sgt. at Central Detention .  He loved being the  police and shared his  experience, camaraderie, and infectious smile with countless other officers.   You could always count on John to be there and always willing to help.

He shared memories as a Special Forces Army Sgt.  recalling  parachute jumps  he had made all over the world. Recently saying that he wished he could  make one last jump.  Explaining that there was nothing like it.  

John loved his family and his Huskies. He spoke of his vision of heaven as a place where he could reunite with departed family and pets.  Free of the bonds of illness and age. 

I'll miss you my friend.

John was my field training officer in the 15th District. John was such a good person to have as a training officer. He took pride in giving young officers the knowledge and tools they needed to be safe on the job. A lot of young officers had the pleasure of having John as their FTO. John will be missed. Condolences to the family.
