Louis "Sonny" P Bongiorno

LOUIS “SONNY” BONGIORNO, 83, US Army Veteran, passed away on November 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Loving father of Louis (Jamie) Bongiorno, Jeanie (Mike) Cacciato, and Lauretta (David Miller) Boguslawski; Cherished grandfather of Marie (Steve Matuscak) Bongiorno, Anthony (Nicole Heinzen) Cacciato, Julie (Mark Bergen) Bongiorno, Mia Cacciato, Kelly (Kelsey) Bongiorno, Tressa (Bryan Butera) Cacciato, Matthew Boguslawski, Joseph Boguslawski, and Thomas Boguslawski; Dear brother of Joseph (Carol) Bongiorno, Frank (Francesca) Bongiorno and Anthony Bongiorno; Uncle, cousin, and friend of many. Louis was predeceased in death by his parents, Joseph and Carmella (Christiano), his brother Salvatore, and longtime friend, Irene Skrip.

Sonny graduated from St. Rita High School and honorably served in the United States Army before returning home to start his family with Theresa and proudly driving a truck for over 40 years. In his retirement, Sonny wanted to continue driving, so he returned to the road to drive buses for St. Rita. He also spent many of his golden years playing a game he loved while being on the same softball team for the last 23 years of his life. He was known by many simply as, “Mr. Bee”. When he wasn’t turning wheels, he spent his time with his family, where he would spend his most cherished days watching his children and grandchildren doing things they loved.

Visitation will be held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W 103rd, Oak Lawn on Friday, November 18, from 3-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 S Western, Chicago, on Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 AM. Interment Mount Carmel Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
